On December 29, 2022, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 enacted a new one-time, eight-hour training requirement for all Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered practitioners on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

Georgia licensed dentists who complete this eight-hour training during the current biennium may apply those hours to their Georgia CE requirement for the current biennium. However, coursework applied to DEA's one-time training requirement which was not completed during the current biennium may not be applied to the Georgia CE requirement for the current biennium.
