Notice: No Authorization For Teledentistry Practice in Georgia
The Board has become aware of dentists in this state who are engaging in "telehealth" activities in their dental practices.
The Board reminds all dental health practitioners that there is no general authorization for the practice of telehealth in dentistry in the State of Georgia. The use authorization for "teledentistry" previously granted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has expired.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and as part of the Board's response thereto, the Board authorized the use of telehealth services in the practice of dentistry. This authorization was made pursuant to Governor Kemp's declaration of a state of emergency.
The effect of any emergency rule adopted by the Georgia Board of Dentistry pursuant to the terms of either the Economic State of Emergency or the Public Health State of Emergency ended on August 13, 2022.
Including specifically:
- Rule 150-3-0.3-.11 Regional Examination for Dentists
- The "Notice: COVID-19 Temporary Use of Telehealth Services" posted by the Georgia Board of Dentistry on April 14, 2020 and on December 8, 2020.
